Ponder: Is Barack Obama Overexposed? Pfft. At Least He’ll Give You “The Handshake.”

My friend Judy met up with Anna and I for lunch yesterday In Mexico City and we quickly aroused an Obamian conversation. CNN International posed a question yesterday during their daytime coverage asking viewers if they believed President Barack Obama was leaving himself overexposed? The question comes in response to President Obama’s recent Southern California tour, his Jay Leno appearance — where he floundered a bit — and his recent online town hall meeting.

Judy believed Obama should begin to suppress such close scrutiny, citing that pundits might find it too easy to dismantle his streamlined campaign persona. I see where she’s coming from. Most people I’ve conversed with about Obama still see him as a rockstar. And he is. But I found myself questioning his stimulus plan riddled with 8570 earmarks, especially after we were told there would be none.

Yet, I think it’s great he’s been leaving his doors open to the public. Unlike the previous administration, change comes in the form of transparency. We elected a public official who we trust to tell us the truth, even if it hurts to hear it. Because at the end of the day, President Obama won’t dismantle the Constitution to shut your ass up. He’ll probably schedule a town hall meeting in your town and engage in civil discourse, full of logic and reason, something we haven’t had enough of in the last eight years. The last thing any of us want is a door slammed in our face. Trust me, Dick Cheney is already trying.
