Music: The Black Lips Rock Mexican Cover For Rudo Y Cursi Soundtrack: So I’m Tardy, Kill Me: “Árboles De La Barranca.”

Remember that one time you were studying abroad in Spain and Chayanne‘s “Torero” filled every stinkin’ bar, restaurant, elevator and brothel hostel in town, forever torturing you? Well Rudo Y Cursi‘s “Quiero Que Me Quieras” is doing that to me now. Except this time around, ringtones became the arsenal of choice for pop-culture adorers. Sure it’s a fun song, but it’s also a song directing my hand to grab a cotton swab and jam it in my ear.

Anyway, it’s not the only song on the upcoming soundtrack for the Winter comedy. Mexican Institute of Sound, Nina Dioz and Juana Molina are just a few of the acts performing on the digital May 19, 2009 release (June 9, 2009 is the physical release), but some of the unorthodox acts are Black Lips — performing “Árboles De La Barranca” — and Devendra Banhart performing “Lindo Cihuatlán”. Unfortunately, I can’t get my hands on the latter track, which may or may not be a good thing. Track list, along with The Black Lips tune, below.

01 Tato “El Cursi” Verduzco (Gael Garcia Bernal): Quiero Que Me Quieras
02 Los Odio feat Juan Son: I Want You to Want Me
