Song Of The Day: Rainy Surprises: John Coltrane’s “In A Sentimental Mood” At World Ground Cafe: Oaktown To Tinseltown.
0May 5, 2009 by Citizen192

Originally composed in 1935 by the legendary composer Duke Ellington, “In A Sentimental Mood” is performed here by John Coltrane with Duke Ellington, in what is recognized as the best interpretation of the song. If there’s ever a rainy day song to ease the sullen temper a gray scattered sky can produce, then this is the track to do it. It’s like Coltrane plucks you out of the wet streets below to take you above the clouds where the sky is blue, fresh and sweet. I’m off to Los Angeles, Ca from the East Bay, so sit back, listen and enjoy.
