I left New York City last week with immense confidence, joy and energy. Joyrides around Manhattan will do that to anyone, que no? Most of you know why I was traveling to the Big Apple, but even I didn’t know my return flight to Mexico City would take a detour to the West Coast after that wretched piglet pox flared fears in D.F.
I arrived in Oakland for a quick pit-stop to pick up my lovely girlfriend before heading out to Los Angeles, Ca for my birthday. We found flights for a whopping $45 from SFO-LAX and decided spending sometime in sunny Southern Califas was a no-brainer.

Anna and I spent our days at the beach, visiting friends (which hasn’t worked because everyone is so busy and married these days) and eating very well. I got the chance to see my friend Anna Rosenthal last week when she opened up for John Mayer at the Hotel Cafe in Hollywood.

There isn’t much since then that doesn’t revolve around driving, listening to LA radio, scouring the net for remarkable new photographers and searching for books I’m planning to check out at the library.
And then there’s the Song Of The Day. Where’s it been?!?! Instead of the usual mp3, we’re going with Jose Gonzalez’s “Killing For Love” video, shot for Pitchfork Media. Also, read this article about Grizzly Bear and go buy their new cd. Happy listening!
