Song Of The Day: Tributes To Desolation: Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros (Again): “Desert Song”: Go Through Mojave, Ca.

Every now and then my father would take the 405 freeway to Interstate 5, and then through the wastelands of Highway 14, crossing over to Highway 58 near Mojave, Ca. That was his scenic route to Las Vegas, NV. Though the route is a longer passage, the arid landscape, tumbleweeds, sloping highways and darkness are calming and beautiful. I think my father enjoys the barren hilltops, cactus trees and desolation because it puts his mind at ease. I can’t blame him. Los Angeles can suck decades out in a matter of months.
