We always venture out of the office during the middle of the day because glaring at a computer screen for too long incites thoughts of throwing computer screens off the top floor of our building. Today I accompanied Nick and Nadia to grab a “Kick Ass Blend”, the name describing in precise words the way we feel about the coffee. We needed more energy to go outside today because, as Nadia so eloquently put it, “It’s butt-cold out here today, dude.”
I stopped Nadia and Nick on the corner of the street and told them, without much prep, to breath heavily. I aimed my camera and they looked at me with curiosity and confusion. I reiterated, “Make your breath visible! I want to capture how cold it is!”
New York City is experiencing weather that convinces you appendages are no longer there because they’ve gone completely numb. This is the type of cold weather children should never experience because they aren’t capable of saying, “Get me the hell out this now!” When a Southern Californian experiences this type of cold, any and every thought of 95 degrees, stuck in a car, 405 traffic, A/C malfunction and a sweaty ass sounds like heaven. Although, if I had to choose, I’d rather be “butt-cold” than sweaty-assed.
