I can never manage to capture a landscape beautifully, but tonight I discovered a mountaintop in my beer glass. The peaks were mesmerizing. “How tall do you think it is?” There was a golden lake at its base and I wondered if the Aztecs had once drifted on this water with their trajineras. I looked around and everyone was laughing at a joke I’d missed. I smiled and drank, and the mountaintop glistened.
