We couldn’t help but keep smiling on the way to the airport because we both knew it was the best way to keep the sadness from penetrating our thoughts. Six days seemed like an eternity together when she first arrived, but Tuesday morning was upon us and our dreadful reality was in perfect view: we were going to be apart again for another few weeks.

This is a trend I’ll be glad to break in four months. Above, Anna gets ready for her flight back to Mexico City.
