This year, the holidays mean more than family visits, endless cookie-consumption and a reason to drink hard liquor everyday to celebrate baby Jesus turning water into wine. In over a week I’ll be taking a road trip from Los Angeles, Ca to Seattle, WA and I intend to stop by galleries the entire way up. I haven’t told my girlfriend this, but I’m sure she won’t mind.

Hostel Review: Isaac’s Hostel In Dublin

“Disclaimer: WATCH YOUR BAG!” Immediately, anxiety filters into my veins when I read something like that. All I can think of are crazy, color coated alerts of terror, and bunkers that can store people for 40 days. Yet, that was my first encounter at Isaac’s Hostel. Security warnings are everywhere here in this deluxe “tourists” hostel, (which is proudly proclaimed on their marquee outside). Highly publicized warnings of “purse-snatchers” and “please report anyone that looks suspicious” make up a significant amount of the wall decor at this establishment. Wandering through the streets of Madrid’s fermented barrio of “La Latina”, I was seductively provoked by a fascinating café. From the streets, I caught a glimpse of haunting photography on walls, contrasted with the sounds of the Caribbean.
