StoryCorps, Cindy Chupak and The Onion are a few of the featured podcasts showcased at Podpourri – an interactive listening event at Galapagos Art Space in Dumbo, BK. It’s touted as “Podcasts. Digital Media. Live.” and does sound enticing, except for the fact that listening isn’t really a communal experience for me. I prefer blasting audio, in my underwear, with a pot full of cafecito ready to go! StoryCorps – the oral history project – will have a listening kiosk, while The Onion will air never-before-seen footage from their video podcasts. Lots of laughs and lots of tears. I think

This American Life host Ira Glass and famous composer cousin Philip Glass will be speaking and performing together January 21, 2010 at 7pm in the Soho Apple store. Thursday night freebies @ Hammer Museum this December 17th is where you should be if watching premiere music videos with random strangers sounds like fun. I think it sounds fun. Mai Doi Todd’s “Open Your Heart” video — directed by Michel Gondry — will be showcased, along with videos from Charlotte Gainsbourg & Beck, Grizzly Bear, Ramona Falls & Yeasayer.
