I’m jealous of people who love nature because I don’t. I like it. I hardly seek mountains, hillsides, forests, parks, etc. for refuge or inspiration. The only exception is deserts. I love deserts because they’re detested to a certain degree. Yet, place me in the middle of a city with a multitude of graffiti-stained walls and I feel like Augustus at Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory. But something occurred to me today: Is it passé to love a scene like above in a place like New York?

I’ve owned my Holga 120 S since 1999, but it took its first tour since 2004 this week throughout the streets of Mexico City. Three prints made it out alive, which leads me to believe I need a little more practice. The photo above illustrates my ineptness to confine light leaks. I also suck at loading this film! Either the black tape I embalmed the camera with came loose, or light leaks are simply unstoppable with this thing.

This leak looks more like a botched loading so give me some tips if you’ve got them. I actually welcome light leaks, but I didn’t much enjoy these.
