I don’t really have a Sunday morning ritual besides listening to “A Sunday Smile” by Beirut almost every Sunday. It perks me up the way a morning kiss, or the sight of the ocean at dawn can. But a few Grizzly Bear songs are stuck on my musical belt. With the lead is “Ready, Able”, which is from Grizzly Bear’s Veckatimest album and featured on the video above. It’s a theatrical piece with gorgeous orchestration, string instruments, plucking, cascading melodies and action. It’s the type of tune to inspire ballet dancers to dance on their rooftops. It’s also a song that gets me banging my imaginary drum in the morning. That’s always a good sign I’ll have a great day.

Is it me or are Grizzly Bear member’s eyes really huge in this video? After a sudden dose of multiple viewings of Grizzly Bear’s newest video from their recent album “Veckatimest”, I couldn’t help but try to close my eyelids one at a time and sweat profusely. Didn’t really work. The Fader points out that Patrick Daughters directed this video. The same directors are responsible for Feist’s “1234” video and Yeah Yeah Yeah’s “Maps.” I’d be up for a “Veckatimest” series a la “Flying Club Cup.“
