I added over 50 podcasts, 100 rss feeds, a few television shows, some tumblr blogs and other sites today for reasons I’m not too sure of. I intend to gradually refine my perspective on the net. It’s something I’ve lost over the last year and I want it back. I went from photog site to music site and ended up at Monocle’s report on The Impossible Project – the project intended to save polaroid film. I watched and smiled. Preservation is something beautiful; it’s something I did for the last year. I left my desk and went to the refrigerator. There they were, just like I had left them. Two packages of Polaroid film with 10 shots each were hunched forward, sharing their shelf with the mustard, an old chocolate bar and tonic water. I’d preserved them for something special, but I’m not sure for what.

What began as a small complaint against yuca-mashed garlic hell turned into a fever, stomach cramps, muscle-aches, dizziness, fatigue and ultimately World-War-fucking-III in my intestines. Quickly, our weekend getaway was held at the tarmac of romance with my dignity spiraling down a toilet. If it wasn’t for my loving caretaker above, I’d still be sipping Tamarind-flavored 7UP (my taste buds were jacked) and moaning in a fetal position. Above, Annita gets some fresh air outside of our room at the Posada San Sebastian. I need an “I <3 Annita” shirt.

I’ve owned my Holga 120 S since 1999, but it took its first tour since 2004 this week throughout the streets of Mexico City. Three prints made it out alive, which leads me to believe I need a little more practice. The photo above illustrates my ineptness to confine light leaks. I also suck at loading this film! Either the black tape I embalmed the camera with came loose, or light leaks are simply unstoppable with this thing.

This leak looks more like a botched loading so give me some tips if you’ve got them. I actually welcome light leaks, but I didn’t much enjoy these.

Remember that one time you were studying abroad in Spain and Chayanne‘s “Torero” filled every stinkin’ bar, restaurant, elevator and <strike>brothel</strike> hostel in town, forever torturing you? Well Rudo Y Cursi‘s “Quiero Que Me Quieras” is doing that to me now. Except this time around, ringtones became the arsenal of choice for pop-culture adorers. Sure it’s a fun song, but it’s also a song directing my hand to grab a cotton swab and jam it in my ear.

Anyway, it’s not the only song on the upcoming soundtrack for the Winter comedy. Mexican Institute of Sound, Nina Dioz and Juana Molina are just a few of the acts performing on the digital May 19, 2009 release (June 9, 2009 is the physical release), but some of the unorthodox acts are Black Lips — performing “Árboles De La Barranca” — and Devendra Banhart performing “Lindo Cihuatlán”. Unfortunately, I can’t get my hands on the latter track, which may or may not be a good thing. Track list, along with The Black Lips tune, below.

01 Tato “El Cursi” Verduzco (Gael Garcia Bernal): Quiero Que Me Quieras
02 Los Odio feat Juan Son: I Want You to Want Me
03 Juana Molina: Rudo Y Cursi
<itunes:summary>Remember that one time you were studying abroad in Spain and Chayanne's "Torero" filled every stinkin' bar, restaurant, elevator and brothel hostel in town, forever torturing you? Well Rudo Y Cursi's "Quiero Que Me Quieras" is doing that to me now. Except this time around, ringtones became the arsenal of choice for pop-culture adorers. Sure it's a fun song, but it's also a song directing my hand to grab a cotton swab and jam it in my ear.

Anyway, it's not the only song on the upcoming soundtrack for the Winter comedy. Mexican Institute of Sound, Nina Dioz and Juana Molina are just a few of the acts performing on the digital May 19, 2009 release (June 9, 2009 is the physical release), but some of the unorthodox acts are Black Lips -- performing "Aacute;rboles De La Barranca" -- and Devendra Banhart performing "Lindo Cihuatlaacute;n". Unfortunately, I can't get my hands on the latter track, which may or may not be a good thing. Track list, along with The Black Lips tune, below.

01 Tato "El Cursi" Verduzco (Gael Garcia Bernal): Quiero Que Me Quieras
02 Los Odio feat Juan Son: I Want You to Want Me
03 Juana Molina: Rudo Y Cursi
04 Devendra Banhart: Lindo Cihuatlaacute;n
05 Mexican Institute of Sound feat Sauacute;l Hernaacute;ndez: Aacute;rboles De La Barranca
06 Nintilde;a Dioz: Prefiero El Asfalto (Por Puro Gusto)
07 Joacute;venes y Sexys: Amor Platoacute;nico
08 Los Laacute;tigos: Besos Y Caricias
09 Adanowsky: Historia Sin Fin
10 Dios Malos: Suentilde;o De Amor
11 Quiero Club: Quiero Que Me Quieras
12 Kumbia Queers : El Dolor De Micaela
13 No Somos Machos Pero Somos Muchos: Amor del Cielo
14 Black Lips: Aacute;rboles De La Barranca
15 Quiero Club feat HC: Pegadito
16 Disco Ruido!: Mi Amor Contiki (Guaca Tiki Mix)
17 Nortec Collective Presents Bostich + Fussible: Aacute;rboles De La Barranca

There were trademark signatures of gangsta life from Los Angeles everywhere: Nike Cortez kicks and knee-high tube socks, Lokes sitting pretty on buzzed scalps, and Oakland Raiders’ jerseys in both black & white established that these cats were gangsta. I asked if they were from D.F. and to my astonishment they said yes. “SL 13″, they said and the leader showed off a tattoo on his inner bottom lip. I’m clueless when it comes to the culture of gangs in D.F. I asked for a photograph — intending to get a shot of his lip tattoo — and he gestured with his hand to hold on a moment. He slid his Lokes off, took off his jersey and pirouetted — gang signs cocked in the air — to show off his back tats. Did it take you a few years to get those? Simon. Then the whole crew wanted a picture.
