   Director and producer Tamra Davis shot footage of New York City artist Jean-Michel Basquiat in the late 1980′s before the artist died of a drug overdose. After 20 years, she’s revealing her archives to the world in a new documentary called “The Radiant Child.” The trailer above speaks for itself and, quite frankly, I’m emotional about what this new documentary may hold. Basquiat was more complicated than the drugs, relationships and fame he was known for. His charisma involved a complex identity, a serious appreciation and love for culture and a thoughtfulness the like seen in this final episode interview

2. Song Of The Day: “Hidaway”: Where The Wild Things Are OST

   Everyone I know is anxiously awaiting Spike Jonze‘s Where The Wild Things Are. It opens October 16th. It’s a film likely to lure fantasies, hopes, dreams, smiles, and a big of magic out of you. Hell, Spike even makes me giddy when I see Fatlip on the screen. This song is “Hidaway” from the movie’s soundtrack. Karen O And The Kids is responsible for this lullaby. Whitney doesn’t want to listen to the album yet because she doesn’t want the songs to influence her take on the film. I agree with her, but it’s impossible to not listen. Image [via

3. Film: Food Inc.: I’d Be Scared To Be A Kid These Days.

   With one jarring statistic, Food Inc. sent me home questioning the food distribution system in the US. From the film, “one in three children born after the year 2000 will be diagnosed with early-onset diabetes. 1 out of 2 minority children born after the year 2000 will be diagnosed with early-onset diabetes.” How’s that for an epidemic?
