Thursday night freebies @ Hammer Museum this December 17th is where you should be if watching premiere music videos with random strangers sounds like fun. I think it sounds fun. Mai Doi Todd’s “Open Your Heart” video — directed by Michel Gondry — will be showcased, along with videos from Charlotte Gainsbourg & Beck, Grizzly Bear, Ramona Falls & Yeasayer. Beirut took the stage, with Orkestar in tow, on David Letterman Friday night and delivered a soothing “Sunday Smile” performance. Of course, I missed it because I forgot to close the door to Mr. Sandman after reading excerpts from “Distant Star” in bed.
